Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to buy a membership to come to Bark Yard?
No membership is required to come to our bar patio or to use our daycare and boarding services. The off-leash dog park does require registration and paid entry in the form of a day pass or an annual membership option. Purchasing an annual membership has benefits including unlimited visits, extended hours, and special discounts.
What do I need to know before I visit the off-leash park?
Before entering the off-leash park, you are required to register your dogs and pay for either an annual membership or a day pass. We encourage you to fill out the registration form online here to save time. You will also need to download the pdk touch app in the App Store or Google Play Store on your mobile device. We will use this app to grant you access to the park once your registration is complete.
Do you require that dogs be spayed or neutered?
We strongly encourage that your dog be spayed or neutered if you plan to use our off-leash park, though it is not a requirement. Intact dogs which are unable to behave in accordance with our park rules will be removed from the park at management’s discretion. Female dogs in heat are not allowed in the off-leash park. Per state regulation, all dogs in our off-leash daycare or boarding facility must be spayed or neutered if over 6 months old.
Are there age requirements for dogs?
We require that dogs be at least 4 months old for the off-leash park as well as the daycare and boarding facilities.
Are kids allowed?
No one under the age of eighteen (18) is allowed in the park unless accompanied by an adult. Children are permitted in the park so long as they are closely supervised by an adult and are not disturbing the dogs or other guests. Children are not permitted to play on the dog park equipment.
What is required before my dog can come to daycare?
To ensure the safety of your dogs and our staff, we ask that you fill out an off-leash play application which provides us with some basic information about your dogs’ history and behavior. Your dogs will also need to complete a “try-out” day. We need at least an hour with your dogs to make sure they are a good fit and will have a great experience at Bark Yard. Try-outs are always free and your dog(s) are welcome to stay all day.
Can you explain the try-out process for daycare?
Your pup will be introduced to our facility by an experienced staff member. After your dog has had a chance to sniff around and get comfortable, we will slowly begin introducing your dog to our other daycare dogs. We will determine the best grouping based on age, size, and temperament to ensure a safe and happy experience. Try-outs are supervised very closely by our most experienced staff members.
What is required before my dog can board at Bark Yard?
The requirements for boarding are largely the same as those for daycare. You must have completed the off-leash play application and your dog must have passed his or her try-out day. We strongly encourage that you schedule your dog’s try-out day prior to the first day you plan to board your dog. This will help to avoid any surprises should your dog not pass his or her try-out and also help to ensure an enjoyable experience for your dog!
Do I need to bring anything for boarding?
You are encouraged to bring portioned-out food for you dog (Ziplock bags are great) and anything that might make your pup more comfortable during his or her stay such as a favorite bed, blanket, or dog toy. If your dog is on medication we are happy to administer it at no additional charge. However, we are not able to give injections of any kind. We do ask that you bring your medicine in its original packaging and it must not be expired.
Do you have food in-house for boarded dogs?
We have a house kibble that we can provide for your dog at an additional cost if you choose not to portion out food.
Can I bring in food for my daycare dog?
Absolutely! Just like with boarding we encourage you to portion out whatever meals your dog needs while he or she is with us for daycare. If you wish to have your dog eat while in daycare, but do not bring in pre-portioned food, we can provide house kibble for an additional fee.
Does an employee stay overnight with dogs in boarding?
We do not have overnight attendants at our facility. Dogs which may require after-hours care, such as seniors and those with special needs, will likely be better suited for an in-home pet sitting arrangement. The kennel area is monitored 24/7 by our cameras and full security system. Our staff is alerted immediately if there are any issues and a plan is in place with first responders in case of an emergency requiring evacuation of the building.
Do you administer medications?
If your dog is on medication we are happy to administer it at no additional charge. However, we are not able to give injections of any kind. We do ask that you bring your medicine in its original packaging and it must not be expired.
What are the hours of operation for daycare/boarding?

Information on kennel cough?
We do our best to make sure our kennels and play room floors are cleaned and sanitized regularly. However, no amount of cleaning will 100% prevent the spread of common illnesses such as kennel cough. The bordetella shot (which helps to prevent kennel cough) is required for all dogs at our facility.
